Are you knowledgeable, intellectually active, and mature, and do you possess advanced thinking and writing skills? Are you ready for everything that a challenging curriculum and rational college life have to offer, even though you’ve not yet earned a high school diploma? Then the Founders Early College program might be for you.
One of the most notable problems in American high schools is student boredom – especially among those students who are the smartest and most intellectually active. Because many high schools teach to the lowest common denominator, academically gifted, motivated students are not challenged. In a recent survey of high school students by the National Governors Association, only 1 in 10 students described high school as “very hard,” with more than a third reporting that high school was “easy.” Even more significant, two of every three students agreed with the statement: “I would work harder if high school offered more demanding and interesting courses.” Half of the students surveyed found their senior year, in particular, useless.
It is for these exceptional students that we created the Early College program. Eligible students are those who qualify for admission before they have graduated from high school. Once at Founders, you will find the intellectual challenge and motivation you so richly deserve. If you are an early college applicant, please contact our admissions office so that we can be alerted to this as your application is considered.
