Financial Aid & Scholarships at Founders College

Founders College is committed to assisting all of our students with the funding of their education. During 2007, our launch year, we have created college-funded scholarships in excess of $3 million for our entering class. Through our various scholarships each accepted student will receive an initial grant of $16,000 ($4,000 per year for all 4 years).* Founders offers special educational opportunities to receive additional awards of up to $2,000 through our essay scholarship competitions. To further support our students, we have work-study opportunities in academic and clerical departments of the college and with our resort and development projects. These jobs will provide up to an additional $1,500 per semester.

Federal and state administered financial aid such as the Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), the State of Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), the College Scholarship Assistance Program (CSAP), and subsidized and unsubsidized Stafford loans are applicable to accredited colleges and universities.

Founders College was certified by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) in 2006, but as a new four-year college, we are required to enroll our first class before we can officially apply for accreditation by the American Academy for Liberal Education (AALE). The American Academy for Liberal Education is a national organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting liberal education through accreditation and research. You can follow our progress through the accreditation process on our website. Accreditation is retroactive, so all credits earned at Founders College will accrue toward your degree or transfer to another institution of higher education.

Our plans, as we move into the second semester, include the offering of a student loan package with lower interest rates and longer payback terms than most state and federal loans. In addition, Founders College can accept privately funded scholarships such as Rotary Club, American Legion, and others that students may bring with them.

Investing in Your Future - It’s Your Decision
Investing in a Founders education may initially require that you assume a student loan. Your intellectual journey at Founders will provide you with much more than your degree, and will be well worth that investment. Our content, our unique, logically structured core curriculum, and our superior teaching methodology promise that you will become the successful thinker, creator, and innovator—that scientist, inventor, educator, entrepreneur or corporate leader who exhibits exceptional talent in strategic thinking and communicating—the change-makers of the world.

Until our loan package is complete, we will make every effort to assist you in locating, applying and qualifying for the most cost-effective student loans. There are many companies and organizations that provide funds for college. To name a few: estudentloan.com; salliemae.com; studentloanfunding.com; findtuition.com; finaid.org/loans; wellsfargo.com/student; astrivestudentloans.com; nelliemae.com;

* All scholarships are valid for four years of study at Founders College and are contingent on the student’s consistent academic performance of a C or better average.
